More about us and our mission..
We are affiliated with Kindred Spirits, a non profit 501 c)3 educational organization. Our primary goal is to help bridge some significant gaps between the medical field and the transgender community.
TransHealth Coordinators originated with Jennifer M. Barge organizing free HIV testing at transgender conferences a few years back. As she became more active and involved with all the networks, she recognized the need to have a resource for both transgender people and the medical community. Jennifer had previously worked as an HIV educator and advocate for many years in Florida . She is certified in both pre and post HIV test counseling, and was a major endorser of providing condoms in the prison system for inmates to be able to practice safe behaviors. Unfortunately, in the State of Florida, this goal has yet to be achieved.
As of 2010 Jennifer is steeping up to be the Director of the Robert Eads Health Project, sits on the board of Southern Comfort Conference
and is an active board member of SomeOne Cares of greater Atlanta, where she is helping to organize a Southern TransHealth conference in 2010. She also sits on the planning committee of Fantasia Fair.
TransHealth Coordinators work with several medical agencies across the country, including:
* Robert Eads Health Project
* SomeOne Cares of greater metro Atlanta/ Atlanta Ga.
* Fulton County Health Services / Atlanta Ga.
* N.A.E.S.M. [National AIDS Education Services for Minorities]
* W.N.C.A.P. [ Western North Carolina Aids Project]
* Alexandria Health Department / Alexandria Va.
